Preceptors and Management Team The PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency program at Mount Sinai Medical Center is a month, full-time training experience designed to develop the resident into a proficient critical care practitioner through a challenging and highly gratifying clinical and academic experience.
This program encompasses a comprehensive and rigorous year that allows the resident to develop clinical knowledge as well as leadership, research, presentation, literature evaluation, and critical thinking skills necessary for a successful critical care pharmacy career.
The resident will be an integral part of a variety of critical care teams at Mount Sinai Medical Center.
In addition you will sit on critical care committees, participate in cardiac arrest response teams, and facilitate the experiential and didactic education of pharmacy students. The PGY-2 year will expand upon concepts mastered during the PGY-1 learning experience and you will grow to become an expert in critical care pharmacotherapy by promoting the safe and effective use of medication regimens.
Expected areas of competency at the completion of the PGY-2 year include caring for critically ill medical, surgical, neurological, and cardiac patients. The PGY-2 resident will also be expected to master concepts including pharmacokinetics, infectious diseases, toxicology, and nutrition.Compounding this issue is the fact that the majority of healthcare workers are increasingly time-pressed today, and so learning and adopting new systems, new methods of care or new devices often.
